About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced, hands-on product leader who combines genuine AI product management expertise with consulting fluency, commercial judgment and exceptional executive communication. You will work directly with Partners and Senior Partners across industries and with highly experienced engineers. Your mandate is to turn ambiguous, high-value opportunities into focused MVPs and successive releases, often targeting 6–8-week delivery cycles, without compromising customer trust or product quality.
Responsibilities
- Own the product, not just the backlog. Define product direction, target users, value proposition, and measurable outcomes for AI applications that productize Simon-Kucher know-how and improve consulting delivery or client results.
- Translate expertise into product opportunities. Partner with consulting leaders, consultants and end users to turn complex, sometimes unfamiliar industry problems into validated use cases and clearly defined product decisions.
- Deliver with pace and discipline. Frame lean MVPs, make explicit scope trade-offs, and prioritize the highest-value capabilities for 6–8-week target cycles and subsequent fast iterations.
- Make decisions that move teams forward. Create clear problem statements, lean specifications, user journeys and acceptance criteria; prioritize ruthlessly based on evidence, value, technical feasibility and risk.
- Lead AI product choices. Evaluate when GenAI, retrieval-augmented generation, agentic workflows, conventional analytics or non-AI approaches best solve a business problem, in partnership with engineering.
- Make AI quality measurable. Define product-level quality benchmarks and AI evaluations covering accuracy, grounding, reliability, user trust, cost, latency, security and appropriate human oversight.
- Lead cross-functional execution. Work as a credible peer to experienced software engineers, AI specialists and designers; challenge and resolve trade-offs while respecting technical ownership.
- Manage senior stakeholders with confidence. Drive decisions with Partners and Senior Partners, communicate options and trade-offs crisply, address conflicting priorities and constructively push back when required.
- Own results beyond launch. Lead pilots, user feedback, adoption and iterative improvement; manage product risks including confidentiality, data protection, responsible AI and enterprise requirements.
Requirements
- Extensive end-to-end product experience (typically 7+ years in product leadership or an equivalent consulting/product combination), with clear accountability for outcomes—not only delivery coordination.
- Hands-on ownership of AI/GenAI products, from zero-to-one MVP through launch, evaluation and improvement; evidence of multiple meaningful AI product iterations.
- Strong practical grasp of LLM-based product patterns—including retrieval-augmented generation, tool use and agentic workflows—as well as evaluation methods, limitations, failure modes and AI-versus-non-AI trade-offs.
- Enough technical depth to work confidently with senior engineers on APIs, data flows, integrations, model and architecture choices, deployment constraints and quality/cost/latency trade-offs. Coding proficiency is not required.
- Product Owner or Agile certification
- Genuine familiarity with strategy consulting or professional-services businesses, consultant workflows, partner-led decision-making and the challenge of transforming expert know-how into reusable client-facing or internal tools.
- Excellent business judgment and structured thinking; able to understand unfamiliar industries rapidly and identify opportunities in pricing, revenue growth, sales or marketing.
- Executive presence and excellent communication; able to influence and constructively challenge Partners and Senior Partners without formal authority.
- A high-ownership, entrepreneurial operating style: comfortable making decisions amid ambiguity, prioritizing hard choices, adapting to feedback and being accountable for results under aggressive timelines.
- Strong user research, experimentation and analytics skills; clear judgment on the viability, desirability and feasibility of enterprise AI products, including confidentiality, privacy and responsible-AI considerations.
- Fluent professional English; German is an advantage.
