About the Role
Peec AI is seeking a leader for its data science team to guide the development and implementation of AI-powered features. This role involves managing a team of 7 data scientists, setting technical direction, and ensuring the quality and innovation of machine learning products.
Responsibilities
- Hire, onboard, and grow the data science team.
- Build a team culture that emphasizes a high bar for quality, full ownership of outcomes, and kindness.
- Lead and inspire the team through regular 1:1s, actionable feedback, and clear career paths.
- Set the technical direction and roadmap for data science in collaboration with product and engineering leadership.
- Own quality in production with strong operational excellence and reproducibility across the ML lifecycle.
- Drive innovation by investing in scalable machine learning data infrastructure.
- Review designs and code, and provide hands-on support when necessary.
- Represent data science to leadership and customers.
Requirements
- 8+ years in data science or machine learning.
- 3+ years managing data scientists or ML engineers as direct reports.
- Experience building great teams: hiring, developing people, and creating standards and rituals.
- Experience taking ML products from research to production, including building practices for evaluation, monitoring, and reproducibility.
- Solid understanding of LLMs and strong instincts for measurement and statistics with noisy outputs.
- Strong technical depth to review architecture and modeling decisions.
- Clear communication with executives, engineers, and customers, including honesty about uncertainty.
- Good judgment under ambiguity and ownership to deliver outcomes despite blockers.
