About the Role
Hinge Health is seeking an Electrical Engineer II to join our Hardware Engineering team, playing a key part in the development and sustaining work for our hardware products. This role involves driving board-level designs for highly integrated medical devices from schematic to layout to assembly, working cross-functionally with firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing teams. You will also support sustaining engineering for post-launch products. The ideal candidate is excited about solving real problems with hardware, with work directly impacting members' lives. You will be part of a motivated team where your contributions matter.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to embedded-system electrical design, including component selection, schematic capture, and PCB layout
- Partner with mechanical, firmware, and senior electrical engineers on system architecture and integration
- Take part in prototyping, detailed design, testing, and preparation for production
- Document design decisions and test results to support product quality and applicable medical-device requirements
- Drive board-level design work across product development, from exploration and prototyping through verification and production ramp
- Support manufacturing and sustaining engineering through test or process development, design-for-manufacturing improvements, and component-level failure analysis
- Help sustain products after launch and identify design changes that can improve cost or manufacturability
Requirements
- 2+ years of professional experience in hardware development or embedded-systems design
- Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout for multilayer boards, including hands-on board bring-up, debugging, and rework on high-density designs
- Experience designing microcontroller-based systems (such as ARM Cortex-M or MSP430) and using standard digital interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, or USB
- Proficiency with common lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, power supplies, and soldering or hot-air rework equipment
- Proficiency with Altium Designer
- Experience with battery management, Bluetooth Low Energy, high-voltage circuits, or analog design
- Experience developing medical devices or products in another regulated industry, such as aerospace or automotive
- Familiarity with EMI/EMC practices and certification processes such as FCC, CE, or UL
- Basic proficiency in Python for test automation or C/C++ for firmware changes that support bring-up and testing
- Experience transitioning designs to manufacturing and applying design-for-manufacturing practices
