About the Role
We are seeking a qualified accountant with hands-on experience in lending to join our Private Credit Finance team as a Financial Accountant. You will own the day-to-day accounting and month-end close and support reporting for the Navigator strategy’s lending investments. This role is central to our plans to simplify processes, strengthen controls, and automate manual reporting.
Responsibilities
- Own the month-end close for the Navigator strategy, preparing journals to agreed timetables.
- Assist with monthly management accounts and management information for Navigator, including loanbook balances, income analysis, yields, arrears and performance against budget.
- Assist with fund and investor reporting for the Navigator strategy, and support funder and lender reporting where finance data is required.
- Account for loans across their life cycle, including drawdowns, repayments, interest income, arrangement fees and accrued income.
- Prepare impairment calculations and provisions including present value impacts, working with the Restructuring team.
- Work with the Finance Manager – Technical Accounting to apply accounting policies consistently and to assess new products or structures within the strategy.
- Own the balance sheet reconciliations for multiple entities across Private Credit, preparing them to agreed timetables, investigating and clearing differences promptly and presenting them for review by the Senior Finance Managers.
- Reconcile the loan books between the portfolio administration system, bank and general ledger, working closely with the Private Credit Operations team to investigate and resolve differences.
- Operate and document key accounting controls, identifying gaps and recommending practical improvements.
- Ensure cash, bank and intercompany balances are accurately recorded and reconciled.
- Prepare UK GAAP (FRS 102) statutory financial statements and supporting working papers for Navigator entities.
- Prepare audit PBC deliverables and respond to auditor queries, working with the Finance Manager – Technical Accounting.
- Support VAT and tax compliance for lending transactions, working with the tax team and advisers.
- Identify manual, repetitive steps and help deliver simplification and automation across the month-end and reporting process.
- Contribute to improvements in financial systems and data quality, ideally NetSuite or another ERP.
- Maintain clear process notes and desk instructions for the strategy’s accounting.
- Work closely with the Finance Assistants in the team, sharing knowledge and helping them develop.
Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or finalist with strong relevant experience.
- Hands-on accounting experience in lending, gained in private credit, banking, specialist lending or a similar environment.

- Strong month-end close, journal and balance sheet reconciliation skills, including owning reconciliations across multiple entities.
- Good working knowledge of UK GAAP, particularly FRS 102.

- Proactive, accountable and comfortable taking ownership of deliverables.
- Experience in an investment manager, fund or private credit business.
- Experience preparing statutory accounts or fund and investor reporting.
- Knowledge of FRS 102 Section 11.
