About the Role

The Digital M&A Advisory practice advises clients on technology, IT, cyber, and digital risks across acquisitions and strategic initiatives. This role serves as the technical network security lead, assessing network security posture and translating technical findings into business implications for investors and executives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical network security reviews for cyber due diligence, technical reviews, and portfolio company engagements.
  • Assess enterprise network architecture and design across data centres, offices, sites, cloud, and hybrid environments, including WAN, LAN, SD-WAN, and remote access.
  • Review network segmentation and zoning, including VLANs, VRFs, DMZs, micro-segmentation, and separation of critical, production, and user environments.
  • Review firewall configurations and rule bases (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet, Check Point, Cisco), identifying issues and gaps.
  • Assess perimeter and internet exposure, including externally facing services, VPN, remote access gateways, web application firewalls, and DDoS protection.
  • Evaluate cloud network security controls across Azure and AWS, including VNets/VPCs, security groups, NSGs, private endpoints, and hybrid connectivity.
  • Assess IT/OT network separation and industrial network security where relevant.
  • Review network access control, Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), and SASE/SSE architectures.
  • Assess network monitoring, logging, and detection capabilities, including NDR, IDS/IPS, NetFlow, and integration with SOC/SIEM services.
  • Review the hardening, patching, and lifecycle status of network devices.
  • Translate technical findings into prioritized, commercially relevant risks, remediation roadmaps, and cost estimates.
  • Produce high-quality reports, presentations, and executive briefings.
  • Manage technical workstreams and support engagement delivery across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Work closely with colleagues across technology, cyber, M&A, and risk advisory disciplines.
  • Contribute to the development of the team's technical review methodologies, network assessment tooling, and market offerings.
  • Support client engagements across the UK and EMEA.
