About the Role

Harvey is hiring a Head of Video to develop and direct video for its Content & Social roadmap. This role involves creating original ideas, building recurring formats, and producing engaging video content for various channels. The Head of Video will be responsible for the entire video production process, from concept to delivery, working closely with a dedicated creative pod and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively pitch social concepts and recurring formats that serve the C&S roadmap.
  • Build a consistent body of work with a clear audience, purpose, and point of view.
  • Turn briefs into creative treatments, scripts, interview approaches, and capture plans.
  • Establish the message, hook, narrative structure, channel versions, and timing before production.
  • Make deliberate choices about pacing, length, visual style, and format.
  • Use audience response and performance insights with C&S to improve the work over time.
  • Own narrative development and write scripts, story outlines, and interview questions.
  • Shape each shoot’s creative direction, including subjects, visual references, scenes, shot priorities, and coverage needed for the edit.
  • Partner with the Video Editor & Shooter on practical capture plans.
  • Direct on set and prepare executives, customers, and other non-professional talent to give natural, specific answers.
  • Guide framing, lighting, and performances in service of the story.
  • Partner with creative producers and external production companies to scale production up or down based on each project’s scope, budget, and creative needs.
  • Partner with Product Marketing and subject-matter experts to make product features and workflows clear, accurate, and useful for our audience.
  • Guide the editor from selects and assemblies through finished assets.
  • Shape story, hooks, sequencing, pacing, sound, and finishing with clear, actionable feedback.
  • Stay accountable through delivery, ensuring the final videos and channel versions meet the brief, agreed timing, and creative standards.
  • Resolve competing feedback and flag decisions that affect scope or deadlines.
  • Align review points early and incorporate both teams’ feedback.
  • Lead and mentor the Video Editor & Shooter and any assigned creative partners.
  • Set clear expectations, provide thoughtful feedback, and support their development.
  • Partner with production owner to confirm scheduling, vendors, budgets, and production logistics.
  • Provide creative requirements and agree production needs early.
  • Plan workload with C&S and the production owner to protect editing capacity.
  • Recommend freelance, copywriting, or production support when scope exceeds the pod’s capacity.
  • Brief and creatively direct freelance, copywriting, or production support.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in video, filmmaking, or creative direction, with demonstrated experience consistently creating and delivering social content.
  • A portfolio showing original concepts, strong writing and storytelling, and sound judgment around hooks, pacing, formats, and audience response.
  • Experience developing and improving recurring series, with clear examples of how audience insights informed creative decisions.
  • Proven ability to translate briefs into scripts, interview approaches, capture plans, and finished assets that meet the message, channel, and deadline.
  • Experience directing professional shoots and working with executives, customers, and non-professional talent.
  • Strong editorial judgment and the ability to guide editors with precise feedback on narrative, pacing, sound, and finishing.
  • Experience leading creative talent and external partners, balancing planned programming with shorter production timelines and realistic team capacity.
  • Clear communication and the ability to align stakeholders, explain creative decisions, and remain accountable through final delivery.
