About the Role

This is a founding role establishing our Data, Integration and AI Platform as a Product to serve growing and scaling our Customer facing and Internal products and capabilities with strong foundation Data & AI foundations. You will work hands-on across data and integration teams, establishing how demand is received, how priorities are set, how roadmaps are agreed, and how the platform demonstrates its value — designing the operating model as well as running it. You will be hiring Product managers to partner with our data platform, integrations and AI platform teams.

Responsibilities

  • Establishing the product operating model for data and integration — intake, prioritisation, roadmap, integrated delivery view, release communication, and the measures that show the platform is delivering value
  • Creating the product strategy – Balancing business and other product needs with foundational work to ensure reliability, reusability and velocity, and maximise business value.
  • Setting the direction and priorities for the platform, with engineering partnering with you to execute — you decide what gets built and in what order; the Directors of Engineering decide how, and own delivery against it
  • Building a high performing team of Product Managers, Business Analysts, etc.
  • Supplementing the team, providing hands on support and additional capacity to drive impact while building a sustainable high performing capability.
  • Owning a single DIP roadmap spanning data and integration. You set its direction and hold final prioritisation authority; the Product Manager maintains it as a working artefact and the engineering Directors commit the delivery plan behind it
  • Owning the demand intake process — establishing product as the route through which new work enters the platform, and withdrawing the informal channels that currently bypass it
  • Holding a considered position with engineering leadership on what is built and when, including declining work where the case does not hold.
  • Supporting your Product Managers where they are accountable for a cross-team delivery date that neither engineering Director owns in isolation
  • Defining value and adoption measures for platform investment, distinct from the delivery and service measures engineering reports on
  • Developing the AI platform strategy based on what we currently have and where we want to go based use cases, sequencing and value case, handing off to a Product Manager once hired.
  • Working with engineering and architecture to distinguish genuinely achievable capability from vendor positioning and setting expectations across the business accordingly.
  • Driving an AI first approach to accelerate delivery while continuously driving improvement - Applying AI tooling to product work itself — research synthesis, requirements drafting, options analysis and documentation
  • Acting as the senior product representative across the business — operations leadership, application owners, the wider technology estate as well as Risk, Compliance, Cyber, Privacy and other key stakeholders.
  • Translating fund administration product needs into platform capability, and capability back into language the business recognises.
  • Establishing the credibility of a new function with stakeholders accustomed to approaching engineering directly

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years in product management or equivalent, including 3+ years leading product managers or business analysts — evidenced in role history rather than a skills list
  • Substantial experience in financial services, ideally fund administration or private capital. Fund structures, entity hierarchies, investor lifecycle, GL and NAV should be domain you already hold rather than domain you would be acquiring.
  • Product ownership for a data platform, integration platform or similar internal platform with business consumers
  • Track record of establishing a product function rather than inheriting one — intake, prioritisation and roadmap mechanisms you designed and saw adopted
  • Proven ability to hold a prioritisation position with senior engineering and business stakeholders without damaging the working relationship
  • Sufficient technical fluency to be credible with engineering — comfortable with data models, integration patterns and platform architecture, and able to challenge an estimate without needing to own the technical detail
  • Willingness to produce roadmaps, requirements and business cases personally while the team is small
  • Experience with client-facing or commercialised data and analytics products
  • Experience working across US and UK/EU teams and timezones
  • Strong communication skills, able to move between an executive conversation and a working session with engineers in the same day
  • All applicants applying to Gen II Fund Services, LLC must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
