About the Role

Gen II is seeking a Director Technology, Integration Platform to lead its Data & Integration Platform (DIP) function. This role is accountable for integration delivery, production support, engineering teams, technology, vendor relationships, and delivery infrastructure. The Director will be the technical owner of the integration platform, responsible for its architecture, standards, and technology choices, while the product function owns the platform roadmap. The role emphasizes external and strategic engagement with business stakeholders and peers to define platform deliverables, ensure service levels, and set engineering practice direction. AI-assisted engineering is a core practice, and this role is expected to further enhance its application across development, testing, and support.

Responsibilities

  • Owning integration delivery and support across the estate, including commitments, quality, and SLAs.
  • Line managing all integration engineering resources, including recruiting for open positions.
  • Establishing team operating standards in conjunction with the Tech Lead.
  • Owning the support model, including out-of-hours cover for critical issues across US and EU timezones, and implementing permanent fixes for recurring incidents.
  • Reporting delivery and service performance to technology and business leadership.
  • Setting the standard for AI-assisted engineering using tools like Claude Code for development, testing, and support.
  • Driving AI integration into testing processes, including generated test cases and coverage expansion.
  • Building AI-assisted capability into the support model for triage, diagnosis, and root-cause summarization.
  • Establishing the cost of adapter delivery and reducing it through AI and reusable patterns.
  • Owning the architecture of the integration platform, including target state, patterns, standards, and technology selection.
  • Owning CI/CD, automated test execution, deployment gates, and Bicep-based IaC for the integration estate.
  • Ensuring adoption of the pattern library and reusable system wrappers to reduce adapter delivery costs.
  • Maintaining standards for observability, resilience, throughput, and security, including managed identity authentication and API governance.
  • Acting as the senior point of contact for integration service and delivery with application owners, operations leadership, and the wider technology estate.
  • Owning capacity and delivery commitment for the function, providing realistic commitments and early risk notification.
  • Collaborating with the product function on roadmap and priority, focusing on feasibility and technical sequencing.
  • Partnering with the data platform function to ensure DIP operates as a unified platform.
  • Collaborating with architecture and quality engineering on standards and test automation.
  • Owning tooling selection, platform licensing, and the software and services budget for the function.
  • Owning vendor relationships for integration tooling and third-party platforms, including commercial discussions and service performance.
  • Making and defending build-versus-buy decisions and retiring underperforming tooling.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years in technology roles.
  • 3+ years line managing engineering teams.
  • Ownership of an integration function or platform team at director or equivalent level.
  • Deep, hands-on experience with Azure integration services (Function Apps, Logic Apps Standard, API Management, Service Bus).
  • Demonstrable ownership of integration architecture at platform level, including target-state design, pattern libraries, standards, and technology selection.
  • Sound judgment on non-functional design (resilience, throughput, security, observability, API governance).
  • Track record running a production support function against defined SLAs, including out-of-hours cover.
  • Experience owning CI/CD and IaC for a delivery function.
  • Established use of AI-assisted engineering in delivery and support.
  • Credibility with senior stakeholders to discuss scope and feasibility at an executive level.
  • Experience owning a software and services budget and vendor relationships.
  • Experience building a team from a small base.
  • Experience in fund administration, private capital, or broader financial services (desirable).
  • Experience working across US and UK/EU teams and timezones (desirable).
