About the Role

As the Business Lead Local Partners, you will lead the Local Partners business unit at nebenan.de alongside the Product Lead. You will report directly to the CEO, be responsible for the commercial performance and P&L of the unit, and manage the Local Partner Sales Team. You will build upon our existing customer base and revenue, driving sustainable, profitable growth. Local Partners are businesses and organizations that connect with their neighborhood via nebenan.de, ranging from shops, cafes, and service providers to local initiatives. Their presence on the platform and local advertising makes them visible to people in their vicinity. Your focus will be on local businesses, helping them connect with their community through offerings that provide clear and lasting value. You will also explore promising opportunities with other local partners, such as authorities, organizations, and multi-location businesses. You have significant autonomy to shape our offerings, pricing, and go-to-market strategies. Collaborating with the Product Lead, you will build on current successes and test bold ideas for the future. We are a lean team and intend to stay that way. This role is for you if you enjoy both setting strategic direction and hands-on execution, including speaking with business owners, acquiring customers, testing offers, and improving customer retention.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Business Unit Local Partners together with the Product Lead, defining strategy, goals, and priorities.
  • Align product and commercial decisions with shared objectives and work cross-functionally to achieve them.
  • Oversee commercial performance and P&L, translating ambitions into financial plans, forecasts, and clear targets for revenue and profitability.
  • Balance strengthening existing revenue streams with investing in future opportunities.
  • Refine our partner offerings by identifying segments and needs of local businesses, translating customer insights into compelling offers.
  • Develop effective customer acquisition approaches, improve conversion and onboarding, and identify opportunities for customer retention and relationship expansion.
  • Evolve the commercial model by refining pricing, packaging, and partner support, building repeatable approaches that combine customer value with attractive unit economics.
  • Manage the commercial approach for partnerships within Local Partners, including industry-specific or vertical-focused partnerships.
  • Build relationships with organizations and networks to reach local businesses, enhance offerings, or unlock new revenue streams.
  • Discover and test new growth opportunities by challenging assumptions and exploring new offerings, business models, go-to-market strategies, and adjacent partner segments.
  • Conduct focused experiments, participate in implementation, and decide based on clear success criteria what to scale, adapt, or stop.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in Business Development, Go-to-Market, Growth, or General Management with proven success in translating strategy into measurable commercial results.
  • Experience in P&L responsibility or significant accountability for revenue, budgets, and business outcomes, connecting customer behavior and operational metrics with financial results.
  • A strong understanding of small and local businesses, addressing their daily needs and constraints when interacting with business owners.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and sound analytical judgment, identifying opportunities, questioning assumptions, and using customer insights, data, and experiments to drive progress.
  • Experience collaborating closely with Product and leading people or cross-functional initiatives, aligning customer needs, commercial opportunities, and execution capabilities.
  • A pragmatic, hands-on mentality, finding effective solutions with a small team and limited budget, and driving initiatives to completion.
  • A collaborative leadership style, taking ownership of your area while being open to feedback and valuing colleagues with complementary skills.
  • A conviction that meaningful purpose and economic success can mutually reinforce each other.
  • Fluent German and English language skills.
