About the Role
Assist the education and treatment teams in the management of student behavior within Gateway Longview's Education programs, which support K through 12th grade students facing behavioral, social, and emotional challenges.
Responsibilities
- Assure effective and consistent supervision of Crisis Counseling Rooms and In-School Suspension areas.
- Contribute to the effective team management of student behavior and the implementation of Individual Education Plans.
- Employ therapeutic methods of intervention with students, responsive to individual needs and consistent with agency policy and Individual Education/Treatment Plans.
- Communicate necessary information regarding student progress to involved staff in a timely manner.
- Support and enhance classroom functioning by providing individualized attention.
- Perform other duties as assigned, such as organizing and supervising special activities, providing student transportation, and assisting in parent outreach.
- Maintain thorough and timely documentation of significant incidents.
- Maintain daily logs of Crisis Counseling Room and In-School Suspension utilization and compile monthly summaries.
- Ensure support staff function effectively individually and as a unit by contributing to the selection, training, and development of Teacher Aides and Substitute Teachers.
Requirements
- High School Diploma and pertinent experience and/or training.
- Must have excellent communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and be detail-oriented.
- Ability to work independently and be an enthusiastic team player.
- Ability to work effectively with clients, staff, families, and community contacts.
- Ability to physically restrain youth after successful completion of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training.
