About the Role
Block by Block employs Ambassadors to make public spaces friendlier, safer, and cleaner. This role offers high visibility at the street level, requiring a positive and professional demeanor while engaging with the public and performing various cleaning tasks.
Responsibilities
- Perform a wide variety of cleaning tasks in an assigned zone.
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor at all times.
- Acknowledge and engage pedestrians and visitors with a friendly greeting.
- Provide directions and city information.
- Remove litter, including fast food bags, cups, cans, and cigarette butts.
- Remove graffiti and posters from street furniture and fixtures.
- Pull weeds from tree wells, sidewalk cracks, and vacant lots.
- Damp wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces like trash can lids and news boxes.
- Identify and report unwanted behaviors or criminal activity to Safety Ambassadors.
- Complete basic daily reports of tasks completed.
Requirements
- Must have a H.S. Diploma or GED.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have the physical capacity to walk or traverse continuously during an eight-hour shift, with breaks and lunch.
- Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language.
Skills
- Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.
