This is an opportunity to shape a product used by a global audience and strengthen the FT's mobile product discipline.
Responsibilities

- Bring specialist mobile product knowledge to decisions about the app experience, challenging assumptions and identifying opportunities to leverage native device capabilities.
- Develop a deep understanding of customers, their behaviors, and their usage of the FT through research, analytics, and experimentation.
- Champion a mobile-first approach to product development, designing around app customer needs and complementing the web experience.
- Ensure the app delivers a coherent, premium experience that provides business value and effectively utilizes shared FT capabilities.
- Own and prioritize roadmap areas, balancing customer value, strategic impact, technical dependencies, and commercial outcomes.
- Work with engineering, design, data, and editorial colleagues to manage initiatives from discovery through iteration.
- Deliver experiences that make the FT essential to daily routines, including improvements in navigation, discovery, personalization, notifications, offline access, and cross-device continuity.
- Explore opportunities to enhance engagement with FT journalism through native mobile interactions and seamless experiences across various formats.
- Collaborate with teams responsible for identity, subscriptions, and customer lifecycle to improve the app's effectiveness in acquisition, engagement, retention, and subscriber growth.
- Establish success measures, use experimentation and customer feedback for decision-making, and continuously optimize the experience.
- Ensure performance, accessibility, reliability, and usability are fundamental aspects of the product experience.
- Act as a specialist in mobile product knowledge for colleagues across product, design, and engineering.
- Share best practices in app product management, including platform conventions, app store requirements, release management, mobile analytics, and experimentation.
- Help establish effective ways of working for developing and maintaining high-quality iOS and Android experiences.
- Stay informed about mobile technology developments, customer expectations, and emerging product capabilities, identifying relevant opportunities for the FT.
Requirements
- Proven mobile app product management experience, including owning and delivering improvements to consumer-facing iOS and/or Android apps, ideally in products with significant scale, frequent usage, or complex customer journeys.
- Practical experience working with native and/or cross-platform development teams, understanding the differences, opportunities, and trade-offs between architectures.
- Familiarity with Apple and Google's platform conventions, app store policies, submission and release processes, in-app purchases, push notifications, device capabilities, and delivering high-quality app experiences.
- Experience in customer discovery, defining problems and opportunities, prioritization, roadmap management, experimentation, and measuring product outcomes.
- Experience working closely with cross-functional engineering and design teams to deliver products iteratively, navigate technical complexity, and balance short-term improvements with longer-term investment.
- Ability to use qualitative and quantitative evidence to understand customer needs, make decisions, and evaluate success.
- Understanding of how product experience contributes to engagement, retention, and commercial performance.
