About the Role
The Content Manager owns the firm's legal updates and blog content from intake through publication, ensuring a steady stream of timely, polished, and search-optimized thought leadership reaches clients and prospects. This role is the connective tissue between attorney authors, Business Development, and the Marketing Technology and Communications team, managing each piece of content through governance, review, and editing so that it is accurate, on-brand, and positioned to perform. The role carries ownership of the alert and blog program and its editorial standards. In a secondary capacity, the Content Manager partners with the Campaigns Manager to bring content campaigns to life, works directly with attorneys and practice leaders to spot thought leadership opportunities arising from legal and industry developments, and reviews and edits content produced by the Brand Strategy team.
Responsibilities
- Own the firm's legal update (client alert) and blog program, serving as the primary point of contact for attorney-authored content and managing each item from intake through final publication.
- Set and maintain the governance rules and publication checklist for alerts and blogs, confirming conflicts checks, approvals, and other required sign-offs are complete before content is published.
- Track content through the pipeline, set and manage deadlines, and proactively follow up with attorney authors and stakeholders to keep projects on schedule.
- Coordinate with Business Development to align alert and blog topics with practice and industry priorities, and to confirm timing around client relevance.
- Publish content across the firm’s digital communications channels, including the firm website.
- Maintain accurate records of content status, publication history, and performance, and use those insights to continuously improve the alert and blog program.
- Work closely with the Sr. Brand Manager and Business Development Teams to update the firm’s website content.
- Serves as a senior editor across a full spectrum of content formats, including thought leadership, webinar invites, podcast recaps and other firm communications.
- Review and edit content for style, grammar, clarity, and consistency with the firm's voice and brand guidelines.
- Edit thought leadership content with SEO and AI search best practices in mind, including headlines, structure, and metadata, to maximize visibility and discoverability.
- Improve readability for a client audience, simplifying complex legal concepts without diluting accuracy.
- Work closely with the BD Team, their attorneys, the Campaigns Manager and the broader Communications Team to develop and implement strategic content initiatives ensuring alerts and blogs are integrated into broader campaign plans and timelines.
- Work with the BD Team to assist attorneys with planning, calendaring and project managing content for blogs and legal updates as well as reacting to legal developments.
- Recommend content that supports campaign themes, market trends and developments, and helps extend the reach and impact of campaign-related thought leadership.
- Collaborate with BD on attorney bio update projects, editing bios with attorney input and applying best practices and SEO/AI Search principles.
