About the Role
The Staff Pad has partnered with a leading warehousing and logistics organization in Brooklyn, NY to hire an experienced and dependable Warehouse Porter. This role is crucial for maintaining clean, safe, and organized warehouse facilities and surrounding properties, ensuring smooth daily operations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of warehouse floors, racking, and surrounding areas
- Dismantle crates and operate designated equipment to compact cardboard
- Gather, sort, and dispose of waste, recycling, and excess materials
- Report facility maintenance concerns and communicate supply needs to management
- Sweep and clear debris from parking areas, walkways, and exterior spaces
- Identify and clear potential safety hazards to keep outdoor areas accessible and safe
- Assist with arranging, organizing, and maintaining warehouse materials
- Handle cleaning agents, sanitizing solutions, and flammable substances, including paint, acetone, and fuel, in accordance with safety procedures
- Provide general support to the Warehouse Team and complete additional duties as assigned
- Uphold OSHA standards and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- 2+ years of custodial or porter experience
- Warehouse or logistics experience preferred
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment
- Familiarity with OSHA standards and workplace safety practices
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and ability to follow instructions
- Professional, dependable, and team-oriented
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment
- Work 50% indoors and 50% outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 150 lbs using carts or dollies
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, and perform manual handling and cleaning tasks
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Operate cleaning equipment, compactors, and manual tools
