About the Role
This role provides advice, guidance, and hands-on support for regional and store-level operations, with a strong focus on merchandising initiatives. The Merchandising Coordinator supports the development, implementation, and evaluation of operational programs and projects, including large-scale merchandising reflows across retail locations. The position works closely with store and regional leadership to communicate objectives, profitability expectations, priorities, performance standards, and other key parameters, while ensuring that teams receive the training and support needed to execute programs effectively and consistently.
Responsibilities
- Provide advice, guidance, and support for assigned programs and processes within specific stores and regions, ensuring alignment with overall operational and merchandising strategies.
- Collaborate closely with store and regional leaders to understand communication, training, and operational needs, and build positive, cooperative working relationships.
- Educate and train Team Members, buyers, Team Leaders, and other stakeholders on program and project objectives, standards, and requirements, with a focus on effective merchandising execution.
- Evaluate and provide feedback to teams on plan execution, including performance in sales, margins, labor, merchandising, training, sanitation, marketing, and promotions.
- Monitor and maintain quality standards as required, supporting store and team efforts to ensure equipment is in good working order and properly calibrated to established standards.
- Ensure that stores follow through on using national and regional resources, and drive widespread understanding and application of established best practices.
- Deliver education and training content in a dynamic, persuasive manner, using strong interpersonal skills and on-the-job training techniques to ensure successful transfer of knowledge.
- Develop and reinforce repeatable, predictable systems and processes that maximize learning and support consistent program execution across locations.
- Provide support to new store design, development, and opening activities, contributing operational and merchandising insights to ensure successful launches.
- Apply basic research, information gathering, and analytical skills to select appropriate alternatives from defined options, collect required documentation, verify conformance with standards, and assess the accuracy of detailed information.
- Handle detailed, structured problems by identifying roadblocks to task completion and using established procedures to resolve standard issues.
- Understand company, segment, and product strategies, and identify alignment or misalignment of team project goals with broader organizational objectives.
- Leverage knowledge of product mix, supply base, and retail operations to support merchandising initiatives such as planograms, store resets, and vendor-related activities.
- Support Project Nexus, a large-scale merchandising initiative to execute approximately 300 reflows across stores in the United States, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to defined standards.
- Participate actively in sprint and stand-up meetings, contributing to open communication, collaboration, and teamwork within the internal project team.
