About the Role
As Staff Product Manager for Identity & Access, you'll own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for how fans get into Crunchyroll and stay in control of their accounts. You'll lead the full identity surface across web, mobile, living-room, and gaming platforms, balancing effortless access for legitimate fans with security against bad actors in a global regulatory landscape.
Responsibilities
- Set the identity strategy, defining and driving the multi-year roadmap for authentication, authorization, and account management.
- Modernize authentication by shipping modern flows such as passkeys/FIDO2, risk-based MFA, social and SSO login, and streamlined device-code login.
- Improve account lifecycle by making it easier for users to create, access, recover, and manage accounts and profiles across devices.
- Fight fraud and abuse by partnering with Security and Trust & Safety to detect and prevent account takeovers and other malicious activities.
- Lead age assurance and youth safety by owning the product approach to age verification, parental controls, and compliance with youth-protection laws.
- Protect privacy by ensuring compliance with global privacy regulations and giving users clear control over their data and consent.
- Ground decisions in research and data by running user research and analyzing funnel data to reduce access-related churn.
- Define and own success metrics for login success, recovery completion, MFA adoption, fraud rates, and support contact volume.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Design, Security & Trust, Legal, Data, and Customer Experience to launch solutions.
Requirements
- 8+ years of product management experience.
- 3+ years owning identity, authentication, account security, or trust & safety products for a consumer platform at scale.
- Working knowledge of authentication protocols and standards (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, FIDO2/WebAuthn) and MFA approaches.
- Experience with fraud prevention and bot mitigation, balancing security against usability.
- Experience shipping identity or account experiences across multiple platforms (web, mobile, and ideally TV or console).
- Strong product judgment to make and defend trade-offs between security, user experience, compliance, and business goals.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience defining KPIs and using funnel and behavioral data to drive decisions.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex security and identity concepts to executives and non-technical partners.
- Experience in streaming, gaming, or subscription consumer businesses (a plus).
- Hands-on experience with age assurance, parental controls, or youth-safety regulation (a plus).
- Familiarity with CIAM platforms (e.g., Auth0, Okta, Cognito) and bot-mitigation vendors (a plus).
- Experience with device-code or QR login flows for living-room platforms (a plus).
- Experience working with global teams and launching in regulated international markets (a plus).
