About the Role
The AI Team, part of Front Office Technology, builds the governed foundation for AI across the firm, including secure data access, standard tooling, reusable AI services, and controls for safe AI usage in a regulated trading environment. Our model involves pods building close to problems, Technology providing infrastructure, and successful applications graduating to formal Technology ownership.
Responsibilities
- Scope pod use cases requiring engineering build, collaborating with PMs, traders, and quants.
- Build production-grade applications using AI-assisted development and the firm’s standard AI tooling.
- Pair with pod developers on live builds, promoting best practices in design, code review, testing, and safe use of agentic coding tools.
- Develop reusable MCP servers, skills, agents, and templates from repeated pod requirements.
- Communicate engineering gaps and requirements to inform the team’s roadmap.
- Incorporate entitlements, per-user identity, audit, and evaluation into all solutions.
- Manage the graduation of successful applications to Technology ownership, including evaluations, documentation, and operational handover.
- Assist in tracking the business impact of delivered solutions, such as time saved, risk reduced, and decisions supported.
Requirements
- 5+ years in software engineering with strong Python and SQL.
- Direct front office experience at a hedge fund or bank, working with traders or PMs, ideally in Rates or Emerging Markets.
- Hands-on experience building LLM applications (RAG, tool use, agents, context engineering, output quality evaluation).
- Extensive daily use of agentic coding tools, understanding their limitations and how to review their output.
- Proven track record of shipping production systems (APIs, containers, CI/CD, cloud - Azure or Kubernetes preferred).
- Ability to translate loosely defined requests into scoped deliverables and push back when necessary.
- Experience building MCP servers or similar tool integrations (desirable).
- Experience with market data and time-series work (e.g., Bloomberg, Snowflake) (desirable).
- Experience integrating with existing front office tooling and collaborating with supporting teams (desirable).
