About the Role
County Waste has an immediate opening for a Diesel Mechanic to join their growing team in Clifton Park, NY. This role is crucial for ensuring the safety of drivers and the community by maintaining the fleet.
Responsibilities
- Schedules and coordinates maintenance work assignments, ensuring timely completion of repairs and preventive maintenance tasks.
- Maintains and updates computerized fleet management systems, tracking out-of-service equipment and monitoring repair status.
- Performs repairs and inspections, safety checks, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on diesel vehicles.
- Utilizes vehicle computer electrical systems to interpret failure modes to identify and adjust Engine and Vehicle Control modules.
- Responds to road calls for emergency repairs.
- Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
- Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software programs.
- Test drives trucks after services and repairs.
- Assists other team members with repairs as needed.
- Maintains professional and courteous interactions with drivers.
- Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
- Performs other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience.
- Proficiency in a variety of diesel vehicle diagnostic tools, preventative maintenance and repair.
- Basic tool set required.
- Hydraulic experience is a plus.

- Earning potential of $75,000 – 100,000+ annually with available overtime and bonus opportunities.
