- Drive technical decisions across data pipelines, storage, metadata, APIs, and service dependencies.
- Lead design reviews, mentor engineers, and establish engineering best practices.
- Design, build, and optimize data pipelines supporting batch, streaming, and analytical workloads.
- Develop scalable data models and processing architectures for large datasets.
- Establish strong practices for data validation, quality, testing, monitoring, and recovery.
- Improve performance, cost efficiency, and operational reliability across production systems.
- Collaborate on backend service and API architecture for data-intensive applications.
- Design efficient data access and serving patterns that support analytics and reporting.
- Build reliable, well-modeled data foundations for AI-enabled products and advanced analytics.
- Contribute hands-on through technical design, coding, troubleshooting, and code reviews.
- Set standards for maintainability, testing, observability, and production readiness.
- Guide complex cross-team initiatives from design through delivery.
Requirements
- Demonstrated Staff-level technical judgment and experience independently designing and delivering complex production systems.
- Strong knowledge of data architecture, data modeling, distributed data processing, and analytical workloads.
- Hands-on experience developing and operating large-scale data pipelines.
- Strong SQL skills and proficiency in a programming language such as Python, Scala, or Java.
- Understanding of backend architecture, API design, data access patterns, and system performance.
- Experience with cloud data platforms, orchestration, storage design, and production operations.
- Strong understanding of data quality, validation, testing, monitoring, and failure recovery.
- Ability to evaluate technical trade-offs, lead design discussions, and influence engineering decisions across teams.
- Experience mentoring engineers and raising engineering standards.
- Experience with Apache Spark/PySpark and distributed processing frameworks.
- Experience with GCP technologies such as Dataproc, BigQuery, GCS, and Airflow.
