About the Role
Advantest is seeking a Software Engineer to join the US AI and Automation Team. This role involves designing, developing, and deploying software solutions that integrate AI capabilities into internal engineering workflows and customer-facing products. The position emphasizes software engineering excellence and architecture, with opportunities to apply emerging AI technologies to solve complex engineering challenges.
Responsibilities
- Design and architect scalable software systems supporting internal and customer-facing applications.
- Lead technical design decisions, architecture reviews, and software development best practices.
- Develop and maintain modern applications, services, APIs, and integration frameworks.
- Collaborate with global engineering teams to define technical roadmaps and solution architectures.
- Design and implement integrations between enterprise systems, engineering platforms, cloud services, and AI-enabled applications.
- Utilize GitHub-based workflows including source control, code reviews, issue management, and release processes.
- Evaluate new technologies and development tools to improve engineering productivity and software quality.
- Mentor software engineers and provide technical leadership across projects.
- Support customer engagements, technical workshops, proof-of-concepts, and deployment activities.
- Contribute to AI-enabled engineering solutions including automation, knowledge systems, software copilots, and intelligent workflows.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field.
- 5+ years of software development experience designing and delivering commercial or enterprise software solutions.
- Strong software architecture and system design experience.
- Proficiency in modern software development languages such as Python, Java, C++, Rust, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Strong understanding of Git-based development workflows and GitHub.
- Understanding of networking and communication protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, gRPC).
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and code quality processes.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively across global, cross-functional teams.
- Experience with artificial intelligence technologies including Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI Agents, MCP (Model Context Protocol), and AI-assisted development tools.
- Experience integrating AI services into production applications.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
- Experience in semiconductor test, semiconductor manufacturing, EDA, or related industries.
- Experience with the Advantest V93000 / SmarTtest ecosystem.
- Experience leading architecture initiatives or technical transformation projects.
- Experience working directly with customers to define requirements and deliver technical solutions.
