About the Role

CIBC is building a relationship-oriented bank for the modern world, seeking talented and passionate professionals dedicated to client success. The Senior Manager, Application Development is responsible for managing multiple development projects, development groups, and application support functions for a major line of business. This role oversees the development, testing, and implementation of organization-wide systems, directing and motivating staff to maximize their contributions and function effectively as a team. The role also leads a team to manage resource requirements, monitor quality, and ensure best practices in development, while collaborating with the business to improve applications.

Responsibilities

Track and analyze operating environment for specified services and implement corrective actions.
Work with clients and internal partners to determine, negotiate, and manage services to agreed standards.
Monitor service levels to identify opportunities for improvement and recommend appropriate solutions.
Lead and coach a high-performing group team of individuals.
Direct, motivate, and develop your team, maximizing their contributions and professional growth.
Share knowledge and collaborate to come up with effective solutions to problems.
Work closely with clients and business partners to develop, test, and implement application programs.
Advise application owners on technology possibilities and requirements to impact and improve the business.

Requirements

At least 8+ years of hands-on experience in .NET (C#) application development.
SQL Server database design and optimization experience.
Experience with data technology stack (Informatica, Azure SQL, REST APIs).
Experience with BI tools (Cognos, Power BI).
Experience with Databricks for scalable ETL pipelines and data models.
Solid knowledge of DevOps practices including environment management, security, pipeline management, compliance, and release management.
Proficiency in Jira/Azure DevOps for taxonomy, story writing, estimation, and velocity measurement.
Proven experience managing large-scale projects/programs, including budgeting and resource planning.
Vendor management/third-party solution integration experience.
Strong understanding of software architecture, RESTful APIs, microservices, and cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
4-5 years of experience leading a team of developers and testers.
Ability to coach and help develop other team members.
Hands-on experience in Software Design using SOLID Design principles.
Familiarity with foundation AI models and integrating AI/ML solutions into enterprise applications is an asset.
Understanding of AI model fine-tuning and customization is an asset.
Strong experience with AI-powered coding agents (e.g., GitHub Copilot) is an asset.
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field of study.
Demonstrated leadership qualities: bold, authentic, passionate about developing and coaching, leading diverse teams.
Ability to embrace and champion change.

Lives values with high standards and genuine care in relationships.
Legally eligible to work at the specified location(s).
May be required to complete an attribute-based assessment and other skills tests.
