About the Role
WhatsApp is seeking a versatile Associate General Counsel, Product, to provide legal counsel for consumer initiatives. This role involves applying complex legal frameworks to new products, influencing compliance strategy, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Drive and support high-profile projects involving legal analysis and compliance with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Oversee outside counsel relationships.
- Lead and coordinate with public policy and communications colleagues on external communication, policy development, and enforcement decisions.
- Help set, implement, and improve the strategy for advising and partnering with business teams.
- Directly manage client relationships with the business.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution.
- Active bar license in good standing in at least one U.S. state or equivalent foreign bar license, with the ability to promptly obtain permission to practice law for Meta in the location where the role is based if the jurisdiction of licensure differs.
- 10+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney at a law firm, in-house, or in government.
- Demonstrated experience providing legal advice on technology, internet, or consumer communications products and services.
- Experience advising on data protection, privacy, consumer protection, competition, or regulatory compliance matters in multiple jurisdictions, including non-U.S. markets.
- Experience managing large-scale, cross-functional legal projects and influencing product and business decisions at a senior level.
- Experience making sound legal judgments in ambiguous, fast-moving environments with significant regulatory complexity.
