About the Role
Tenstorrent is seeking a Staff Manufacturing Engineer to build in-house capabilities for launching, stabilizing, and recovering hardware products as they scale across contract manufacturers. This role involves setting up an NPI site for prototype and EVT builds, RMA, and failure analysis, as well as defining process specifications for reliable mass production. You will collaborate closely with design, electrical, mechanical, test, quality, and CM partners to integrate manufacturing considerations early in the design process.
Responsibilities
- Help stand up and run the NPI site for EVT and DVT builds, proving builds and tests before they go to the CM.
- Define and maintain process specs for assembly, integration, rework, and test, updating them as volume grows.
- Drive DFM, DFA, and tolerance reviews early in design to catch issues before production.
- Establish build readiness and phase exit criteria (EVT → DVT → PVT → MP).
- Own design transfer to CMs, including tooling, documentation, and line readiness.
- Lead failure analysis and RMA recovery for returned hardware, feeding findings back into design and process.
- Set process capability targets and track performance with SPC, DOE, and yield data to stabilize launches and ramps.
Requirements
- A manufacturing, process, or NPI engineer with hands-on hardware experience taking products from prototype to volume.
- Ability to turn design intent into documented, repeatable build and test processes.
- Data-driven in debug, failure analysis, and root cause analysis, seeing each fix through to closure.
- Comfortable building structure where it doesn't exist yet, including clear ownership, phase gates, and exit criteria.
- Clear communicator who keeps internal teams and external CMs aligned on actions, risks, and readiness.
- Eligible to access U.S. export-controlled technology, subject to U.S. export laws and potential licensing requirements.
