About the Role
This Medical Assistant position provides both administrative and clinical support in patient registration, rooming, demographic and medical data collection as well as patient checkout including appointments, discharge information and payment under the supervision of a provider.
Responsibilities
- Greeting patients promptly and professionally
- Assisting patients with the registration process including collecting required patient information, medical history, relevant documents, and electronic signatures
- Preparing the patient for the exam by performing preliminary tests
- Reporting relevant information to the provider
- Assisting the provider with patient care as requested
- Performing scribe duties
- Reviewing treatment procedures with patients
- Assisting in ordering tests and retrieving results
- Reviewing discharge instructions
- Bracing and brace measurements under the supervision of a licensed professional
- Collecting patient payments and scheduling follow-up appointments
- Balancing and closing a journal each day
- Maintaining a high level of confidentiality and complying with HIPAA standards
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1-3 years of experience in a medical setting preferred
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong data entry skills
Skills
- Medical Assistance Certification or Degree in the Sciences preferred
- CPR/BLS preferred
