About the Role

As Junior Counsel, you will support the full legal function at Norm Ai and the legal and operational needs of Norm Law, LLP. This generalist role spans corporate, commercial, employment, IP, and data security, as well as the business and go-to-market operations of an AI-native law firm. The position is designed for an ambitious lawyer seeking broad practice-area coverage in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment, offering a firsthand view of the future of legal practice.

Responsibilities

  • Support the company's corporate and governance needs, including board and stockholder consents, resolutions, and other entity matters.
  • Administer equity and maintain the cap table, and keep corporate records and filings in order across the company and its subsidiaries.
  • Develop a working understanding of the governance and relationship between Norm Ai and Norm Law and help administer it effectively.
  • Draft and review commercial agreements (NDAs, MSAs, SOWs, vendor contracts) and build repeatable templates and playbooks.
  • Review engagement letters and client proposals and support client intake for Norm Law.
  • Operationalize and systematize a go-to-market motion.
  • Support day-to-day employment and HR matters and help maintain employment templates, policies, and handbooks.
  • Manage IP ownership, assignment, and protection, and help safeguard the company's confidential information and trade secrets.
  • Support data privacy and security compliance, including customer and vendor data terms, privacy policies, and evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with outside counsel, prepare materials, and learn when matters should be escalated.
  • Build the legal function's infrastructure — matter tracking, templates, and approval workflows.
  • Partner cross-functionally with leadership, Operations, People/Talent, and the Norm Law team to support the business.

Requirements

  • JD and barred in at least one state (NY preferred).
  • 2–3 years of experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house at a high-growth company.
  • Generalist inclination with a desire for broad coverage across corporate, commercial, employment, IP, and data privacy/security.
  • Strong corporate/transactional foundation with the ability to quickly learn adjacent areas.
  • Exceptional judgment, discretion, and ownership.
  • Pragmatic and business-minded approach.
  • Highly organized and systems-oriented with a low-ego, action-oriented mindset.
  • Exposure to startup equity, employment matters, IP, data privacy, or venture financings is a plus.
  • Familiarity with law firm operations or professional-services go-to-market is a plus.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for AI and its impact on legal services is a plus.
  • Must be fluent in AI, actively using it in day-to-day work to support thinking, creation, and problem-solving.
  • Candidates must be prepared to demonstrate and discuss AI usage, including tools, workflows, and outcomes.
