About the Role
Hudson Valley Community College seeks experienced, dynamic, capable, creative, and caring individuals to join our Public Safety team and continue to build on decades of successful service to our community.
Responsibilities
- Control and direct traffic on campus roadways and parking lots.
- Patrol the campus on foot or in patrol vehicle to protect people and property, maintain order and ensure compliance with college rules and regulations.
- Investigate complaints received personally or as assigned by supervisor.
- Investigate motor vehicle accidents on campus.
- Enforce traffic and parking regulations.
- Supervise Security Guards on routine duties and at special events.
- Summon local police, fire departments and ambulance services in cases of law violation, fire or other emergencies.
- Enforce compliance with fire and safety regulations.
- Respond to Medical emergencies and aid based on level of training.
- Give information and directions to students and visitors.
- Keep records and make oral, computer, and written reports.
- Operate radio, telephone, computer, and other dispatching equipment.
- Perform other related duties that may be assigned by the Director of Public Safety.
Requirements
- Must meet minimum qualifications as stated in the announcement.
- Must currently hold unrestricted employment authorization to work in the United States.
- Appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background check and physical.
- Candidates must have been legal residents of New York State for at least FOUR months prior to appointment.
- Preference may be given to successful candidates who have been legal residents of the municipality to which the appointment is to be made for at least FOUR months prior to appointment.
- High School Diploma or possession of a High School Equivalency.
- Two years of experience in a related security position or an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Education or closely related field from an accredited college or university.
- Possession of a valid New York State Driver License.
- Completion of the 8-hour and 16-hour security guard courses mandated by New York State to be licensed before assignment.
