About the Role
The Senior Manager, Market Intelligence, will transform data into insights and insights to action by integrating and analyzing multiple data sources to enable better and more timely decision-making. This role offers a data-driven, analytic, strategic thinker the opportunity to make actionable recommendations to support strategic decision-making at CFA Institute. Market Intelligence is a two-person team within Corporate Strategy, which works on the organization’s critical business and growth initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Support and advise the Head, Corporate Strategy, Leadership Team, and Product Leaders on strategic decision-making by synthesizing insights, observations, and trends across multiple studies and sources.
- Anticipate changing trends, opportunities, and threats, and develop implications and recommendations for product and business strategy.
- Provide proactive, ongoing monitoring of the external environment using advanced intelligence tools to identify opportunities, competitor activity, and market shifts.
- Partner with client facing teams to gather and analyze competitive data.
- Conduct market research and analysis to inform strategic evaluation of new market and product opportunities, including market sizing, demand studies, and industry trend analysis.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business objectives through data-driven decision-making.
- Deliver fact-based customer understanding and root-cause analysis to inform product demand, development, pricing, and enhancement decisions.
- Apply customer experience metrics, including NPS (Net Promoter Score) scoring and analysis, to track satisfaction and loyalty trends and translate them into actionable recommendations.
- Own strategic research projects end-to-end — problem definition, hypothesis formulation, market and financial modeling, analysis, insight development, and presentation/delivery to stakeholders.
- Maintain a market intelligence knowledge hub to manage and disseminate primary and secondary research, with a focus on AI-powered insight delivery over document search.
- Leverage the organization’s data, content and knowledge resources and collaborate cross-functionally to support business decisions.
- Stay abreast of new trends, technologies, and solutions; evaluate market intelligence systems, tools, and methodologies to drive continuous improvement and innovation in the function.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
- 5 plus years' experience in strategy, management consulting, and/or corporate development, developing growth strategies and identifying product or market opportunities.
- Demonstrated experience in market analysis, competitive intelligence, and strategic analysis.
- Knowledge of, or experience in, the investment industry preferred.
- Experience with data providers such as FactSet, Morningstar, Bloomberg, or World Bank a plus.
- Familiarity with modern research methodologies and tools (e.g., design thinking, social listening, agile research platforms, or behavioral/System 1 methodologies) a plus.
- Familiarity/experience of building AI models or GPTs to synthesize research and data.
- Applicants who currently require, or may in the future require, visa sponsorship to work in the country where this role is based should be aware that CFA Institute does not normally provide visa sponsorship for new employees and does not anticipate doing so for this position.
- Applicants should be aware that this position is approved for hire only in the location(s) listed in this job posting.
- Eligibility will be assessed based on an applicant's current ability to work from a location listed in this job posting at the time of application, and CFA Institute is unable to progress applications from individuals who are currently unable to work from the advertised hiring location(s), including where relocation is planned for a future date.
Skills
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking, with the ability to move fluidly between big-picture synthesis and detailed analysis.
- Exceptional ability to identify trends in data, articulate the "so what," and translate insights into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Excellent storytelling and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex insights to cross-functional partners in ways that support decisions and action.
- Genuinely curious and self-motivated, with strong problem-solving skills and creative research design.
- Independent and highly organized, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously without sacrificing quality or nuance.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal, listening, and presentation), with executive-level presence and a professional, diplomatic demeanor.
- Global cultural orientation, with experience working effectively across regions.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and drive results in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Fluency in English required; additional languages a plus.
- Comfort asking questions and challenging assumptions, rather than simply following direction.
