About the Role
Lead the development and support of scalable, reliable, and secure Java-based web services for business-critical integration solutions. Combine hands-on application development with technical leadership, guiding engineering decisions and helping the team deliver maintainable, high-quality software within an Agile Scrum environment. Improve application performance, scalability, resiliency, and security while applying sound judgment to complex production and development challenges. Strengthen engineering practices and support developer growth through code reviews, testing, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and support of scalable, reliable, and secure Java-based web services.
- Combine hands-on application development with technical leadership.
- Guide engineering decisions and help the team deliver maintainable, high-quality software.
- Collaborate with business partners and technologists to translate requirements into effective technical solutions.
- Improve application performance, scalability, resiliency, and security.
- Apply sound judgment to complex production and development challenges.
- Strengthen engineering practices and support the growth of other developers through code reviews, testing, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.
- Mentor developers, provide technical guidance, and strengthen team capability through constructive feedback and knowledge transfer.
- Gather requirements and translate business needs into technical specifications.
- Support enterprise web applications in production environments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- 6+ years of software development experience, with a strong focus on Java and related frameworks.
- Demonstrated Java application development experience, including the ability to create clean, maintainable, testable, and efficient code.
- Extensive experience designing or supporting REST APIs, microservices, and integrations between front-end and back-end systems.
- Experience applying problem-solving and decision-making skills to investigate software issues, correct defects, and improve application performance, scalability, resiliency, and security.
- Experience with modern development practices, including CI/CD pipelines, Git version control, automated testing, code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing.
- Experience working with MongoDB and SQL databases.
- Ability to lead technical work, take ownership of outcomes, and communicate effectively across business and technology teams.
- Experience developing Java applications with Spring Boot.
- Experience applying test-driven development practices and creating integration tests with Cucumber.
- Experience with RabbitMQ and Kafka event-streaming platforms.
- Experience writing Splunk queries and developing monitoring dashboards.
- Experience with Agile tools and methodologies, including Jira.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
