About the Role
Risk Ledger is seeking a Senior IT Engineer to own the IT infrastructure, including people, devices, and SaaS estate. This role involves working closely with the Director of Information Security & IT Operations and the Senior SecOps Engineer to support teams across UK and US offices. The position focuses on engineering and platform building, including identity, device management, automation, and AI enablement, rather than traditional help desk functions. As the company scales, this role will be instrumental in shaping IT and security operations.
Responsibilities
- Own identity, access, and SaaS administration, including cloud identity provider and productivity suite management.
- Implement and maintain SSO and automated user provisioning (SCIM) across the SaaS estate.
- Administer core business tools, ensuring least-privilege and role-based access.
- Manage access changes and privileged-account requests, and support quarterly access reviews.
- Own the MDM platform for macOS fleet, including zero-touch enrolment, configuration profiles, patching, and compliance.
- Build and enforce endpoint controls, including those for local AI tooling, browser, and extension policy.
- Manage enrolment of personal devices accessing company data.
- Prepare for and support the rollout of endpoint detection and response (EDR) with Security Operations.
- Own the end-to-end joiners, movers, and leavers process, from HR trigger to final day.
- Automate IT processes and track onboarding/offboarding times against SLAs.
- Support colleagues in UK and US offices.
- Own the IT support queue and channels, triaging and resolving issues.
- Maintain self-help guides and runbooks for common requests.
- Manage hardware, AV, meeting rooms, and office technology.
- Identify and resolve recurring IT issues.
- Act as a security-minded partner to the Director of Information Security, implementing security controls and policies.
- Apply a security lens to all IT decisions, flagging risks and proposing secure alternatives.
- Configure and tune browser and SaaS security tooling, and act on alerts.
- Perform first-line triage on reported phishing and IT-side incident response.
- Review new tools, integrations, and browser extensions against governance processes.
- Own the IT asset register and ensure IT and device controls meet compliance standards for audits.
- Support security projects, policy updates, audits, and reporting.
- Automate repetitive IT and admin work using scripting, APIs, and workflow tools.
- Build AI-assisted IT operations, such as agents for request triage or answering common questions.
- Roll out, configure, and administer approved AI tools, connectors, and integrations.
- Implement practical guardrails for AI usage in line with company policies.
- Assist colleagues in adopting AI tools effectively.
- Evaluate and introduce IT and AI tooling based on cost and risk trade-offs.
- Shape the IT roadmap with the Director of Information Security.
- Mentor any future IT Ops Engineer.
Requirements
- 4+ years in IT operations or systems administration.
- At least 2 years in an engineering-led role at a SaaS or fast-growing company.
- Deep, hands-on administration of a cloud identity provider and productivity suite.
- Strong experience managing a macOS fleet with an MDM platform.
- Experience implementing SSO (SAML/OIDC) and SCIM provisioning across a SaaS estate.
- Track record of automating JML and admin work.
- Hands-on experience rolling out and administering AI tools in a business.
- Experience using AI or workflow automation to improve IT operations speed.
- Scripting ability in at least one language (Bash, Python, or JavaScript).
- Comfort working with REST APIs.
- Strong security mindset, including understanding of least privilege, phishing and credential risk, browser and extension risk, and IT controls for audit evidence.
