About the Role
Meta's Hardware Infrastructure team is building the physical foundation that powers AI at global scale. As a Product Quality Engineer, you will own the end-to-end quality strategy for next-generation infrastructure hardware, spanning compute platforms, storage systems, and data center hardware from early prototype through high-volume mass production. This role sits at the intersection of engineering innovation and operations, where you will own the manufacturing readiness strategy for advanced compute and GPU platforms. You will partner with design engineering, contract manufacturers, and supply chain teams to define quality standards, drive yield improvements, and ensure Meta's infrastructure hardware fleet meets rigorous reliability and performance requirements at hyperscale volumes.
Responsibilities
- Define and own the manufacturing quality strategy for infrastructure hardware programs, including compute, GPU, storage, and networking platforms, across NPI and mass production phases.
- Establish and track key manufacturing quality metrics including yield, first-pass rate, defect density, and field return rates, driving accountability and continuous improvement across internal teams and contract manufacturing partners.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance test coverage, methodologies, and infrastructure to improve hardware reliability and performance at scale against defined targets.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action programs for systemic hardware failures, managing failure analysis workflows and driving closure of critical issues against defined yield and reliability targets.
- Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to drive power optimizations and performance tuning for compute and GPU systems during the manufacturing validation phase.
- Manage the technical transition of products from prototype builds to high-volume manufacturing, facilitating critical technical discussions to resolve open design and test issues.
- Travel internationally to supplier sites (up to 25%) to manage hardware validation, ensure compliance with defined test requirements, and foster technical partnerships.
- Drive cross-functional alignment on quality requirements and risk mitigation plans across design engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing operations teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of experience in product quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, or hardware reliability engineering within a hardware product development environment.
- Experience leading quality programs for complex hardware systems from NPI through high-volume mass production, including ownership of yield improvement and defect reduction initiatives.
- Experience supporting hardware architecture with hands-on experience in the testing and validation of compute and GPU systems.
- Experience partnering with contract manufacturers and component suppliers to define quality requirements, conduct audits, and drive corrective actions.
- Experience partnering with stakeholder teams to drive alignment on technical decisions, through proposals, design reviews, or presentations.
- Background in process development, bring-up, and qualification, encompassing Final Assembly, Test, and Packout processes.
