About the Role
Lambda Security protects valuable digital assets including training data and model weights. As a Senior Security Engineer on Product Security, you will ensure security decisions are made across Lambda's offerings, from data center infrastructure to customer-facing software. You will own security outcomes, partner with various engineering teams, and contribute to securing revenue by assuring customers of Lambda's security posture.
Responsibilities
- Own security design reviews and threat models for assigned systems, providing actionable recommendations.
- Harden network, cluster, and infrastructure-service layers to ensure customer workload isolation.
- Review application code and infrastructure as code to identify and fix vulnerabilities.
- Manage vulnerability management as a program, prioritizing risks and driving remediation.
- Develop security patterns and requirements based on recurring findings.
- Support customer security reviews and architecture discussions.
- Build security tooling using Python or Go, leveraging LLMs and AI tools.
- Collaborate with Product Engineering, Data Center Operations and Engineering, and Detection & Response teams.
- Coach engineers on secure design principles and mentor junior security team members.
- Balance strategic security investments with tactical needs, focusing on measurable progress.
Requirements
- 5+ years of security engineering experience, or equivalent background in software, infrastructure, or SRE roles driving security outcomes.
- Demonstrated depth in infrastructure security or application security, with a history of adopted security recommendations.
- Proven ability to independently own security work end-to-end.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous startup environment with shifting priorities.
- Strong hands-on Linux experience in bare metal and cloud environments.
- Proficiency in reading application code and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes manifests).
- Experience shipping production-grade tooling in Python, Go, or a similar language.
- Ability to translate security risk into business impact for various stakeholders.
- Excellent collaboration skills with technical teams, with or without direct authority.
