Responsibilities
- Own and deliver workstreams within client engagements, structuring problems, building the analysis and drawing out clear, actionable insights, with guidance from the engagement Manager.
- Build and maintain models and analytical tools, including market, financial and valuation models, and apply analytics, data science and AI techniques where they add value.
- Develop high-quality client materials and present findings and recommendations clearly, including in client interviews and workshops.
- Work on topics such as corporate and portfolio strategy, trading and risk management capability set-up, operating model design, commercial optimisation, investment valuation, energy market liberalisation, the energy transition, and numerical modelling of energy and commodity markets.
- Build credible working relationships with client counterparts, understanding their needs and working style.
- Take fresh, well-evidenced ideas to clients and contribute to a culture of constructive challenge.
- Support and mentor Analysts sharing knowledge and giving practical feedback as you gain experience.
- Take ownership of your own development, seeking feedback and building depth in one or more of our solution areas.
- Support business development by running industry and company research (competitor and market scanning, market fundamentals, financials, customers) and building proposal materials.
- Contribute to ACM UK, global ACM and the wider CEO Advisory community, including offerings, assets and thought leadership.
Requirements
- 2-4 years of experience in consulting, the energy industry, commodity markets, investment banking or a closely related area.
- A degree in a quantitative field (e.g. Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, Computer Science), or equivalent experience.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative problem-solving skills, and the ability to structure complex, abstract problem statements.
- Working knowledge of recognised strategy frameworks and techniques.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the confidence to present to client audiences; fluency in English.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to contribute to an inclusive team environment.
- Advanced degree or MBA.
- Exposure to commodity trading, risk management, or investment and asset valuation.
- Knowledge of asset-backed energy trading, capital project delivery, and portfolio allocation optimisation.
- Solid financial and analytical modelling skills.
- Experience applying AI and analytics to real problems, going beyond tool use and combined with quantitative modelling.
