About the Role
The Senior Civil/Structural Designer completes a variety of Civil/Structural Design assignments with limited supervision and serves as an informal resource for less experienced colleagues. They provide solutions to complex situations and directly impact the team's work quality.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and develop high-quality arrangement and detail design drawings ensuring clarity and ease of construction.
- Develop 3D models.
- Ensure work complies with MDR and project QA/QC systems and procedures.
- Apply basic technical skills and knowledge to complete assigned work.
- Continue developing skills to efficiently complete repetitive tasks.
- Manage own time to meet deadlines.
- Become familiar with Project Scope of Work, specifications, schedule, and inter-discipline requirements, identifying and addressing concerns early.
- Prepare Civil and Structural layouts in liaison with Engineers and other disciplines.
- Ensure work complies with McDermott requirements, Client and Statutory Design Codes, Standards, or Procedures, focusing on Health and Safety Policies.
- Develop 3D Models and ensure clash-free models in coordination with all other disciplines.
- Organize own design work.
- Check designs, focusing on interfaces with other disciplines.
- Provide drafting support as required.
- Review other discipline drawings.
- Review supplier drawings.
Requirements
- High School graduate with a diploma in Civil or Structural disciplines or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with a major contractor or consultant.
- Knowledge of associated industry detailing standards.
- Knowledge of 2D and/or 3D drafting systems (AutoCAD and/or MicroStation).
- Knowledge of E3D and/or S3D.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Auto lisp Programming, 3D Modeling, and 2D Drafting Menu and/or Macro compilation skills.
- Eager to learn.
- Working knowledge of English, both oral and written.
- HSE, TQM, and cost-conscious.
- Flexibility to adapt to reassignment, colleague absence, and workload assistance.
- Ability to manage/learn future working methods and software applications.
- Familiarity with the use of codes and standards.
