About the Role
As a Senior Data Scientist on Foley's Value Creation Office (VCO) team, you will lead the research process alongside the Chief AI Officer, identifying and leveraging value within Foley's data to develop models, product features, and new offerings. This role is consulting-adjacent, requiring collaboration with business leaders to frame key questions and with engineering teams to provide a forward-looking business perspective.
Responsibilities
- Lead the research process, setting the agenda and managing the process from hypothesis to recommendation.
- Partner with business leaders, customers, and subject matter experts to identify data science opportunities in areas like driver risk, fraud, retention, pricing, and compliance.
- Develop forecasts, leading indicators, and models to provide leadership with a forward-looking view of the business.
- Apply rigorous data science methods including EDA, feature engineering, model building, and validation with checks for leakage, error, and bias.
- Assess the value of Foley's data, identify gaps, evaluate external data sources, and contribute to data product strategy and pricing.
- Communicate model capabilities, limitations, and confidence levels to executives, customers, and engineers.
- Translate findings into product proposals and define success metrics for new launches.
Requirements
- Senior-level, end-to-end data science experience including EDA, hypothesis development, feature engineering, modeling, and validation.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to executives and non-technical audiences.
- Strong business analytics skills to identify opportunities where analysis can influence decisions and quantify potential impact.
- Consulting or consulting-adjacent experience, such as strategy, operations, PE value creation, due diligence, or internal strategy/analytics, including leading research processes.
- Strong statistics knowledge, including identifying noise, leakage, and confounding, and communicating uncertainty.
- Fluency in Python and SQL.
- Experience partnering with engineering teams to deploy models into production.
