About the Role

DHI (Dairy Herd Improvement) Lab Technician I is an entry-level lab position focused on developing competence in basic lab procedures, workflow, instrument operation, and safety protocols. The role emphasizes achieving production and turnaround time standards under close supervision.

Responsibilities

Wash milk sample vials and prepare them for reuse.
Prepare samples for testing, including sorting, weighing, and measuring.
Mix simple chemical solutions.
Sort, scan, and record incoming samples.
Prepare sample vials for cleaning.
Handle and prepare chemicals required for testing or cleaning.
Operate laboratory instruments according to standard operating procedures.
Perform start-up and shut-down procedures at the start and end of each shift.
Clean equipment as established in lab protocol.
Maintain cleanliness of work area and overall lab.
Assist with instrument upkeep and maintenance as needed.
Participate in lab-specific and organizational trainings such as safety and annual anti-harassment.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED.
1 year of prior work experience following specific protocols/instructions.
Ability to occasionally lift to 30 pounds.
