About the Role
Jackson Hewitt is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Tax Preparer to join our team in White Plains, NY! This is a fantastic opportunity to help everyday people navigate tax season with confidence while building your career in financial services.
Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate federal and state income tax returns for individual clients
- Interview clients to gather relevant financial and tax information
- Identify applicable tax credits, deductions, and exemptions to maximize client refunds
- Review and verify tax documents including W-2s, 1099s, and other financial records
- Maintain client confidentiality and ensure data security compliance
- Deliver exceptional customer service and build lasting client relationships
- Stay current on federal and state tax laws and Jackson Hewitt procedures
Requirements
- Prior tax preparation experience preferred; entry-level candidates welcome
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, seasonal environment
- Basic computer proficiency; experience with tax software is a plus
- Must be willing to complete Jackson Hewitt tax training program
- PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number) or willingness to obtain one required
