About the Role

NTT DATA is seeking a Data Center Technician to support a client's data center and IT closets in Buffalo, NY. This role involves on-site work, Monday-Friday, with general coverage from 7 am to 5 pm EST and on-call availability for after-hours support. Shift timings are subject to change based on client requirements.

Responsibilities

Manage work order queue
Assign technicians and schedule shift activity
Train and mentor technicians
Communicate with peer lead technicians from other shifts for operational handoffs
Deliver daily move, add, and change (MAC) requests, including hardware installs and network cabling
Complete hardware break/fix tickets, such as troubleshooting hardware and connectivity issues and replacing hardware components
Check supplies in and out from the inventory management system
Keep inventory current and accurate using DC Portal
Maintain work area in a safe and orderly manner, ensuring tools and supplies are properly put away after every shift
Provide data center escorts as requested
Perform QA checks on work orders
Perform backup tape operations and amber light tours
Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support when required

Requirements

3+ years of experience within a Data Center
3+ years of experience performing Data Center-Tape Operations/Smart hands/Device reboots
Possess a personal vehicle and driver's license for local travel

Skills

Ability to communicate (oral/written) effectively to exchange information with our client
Generate and communicate ideas to improve processes for the client
