About the Role
Join our in-house legal team in London to advise on ambitious design projects across healthcare, higher education, civic, science and technology, corporate interiors, masterplanning, and urban design. You will provide practical and commercial legal advice for UK, Europe, and Middle East projects, managing risk and supporting teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Advise on bids and negotiate client design-services agreements, helping teams understand risks and commercial choices.
- Negotiate subconsultant appointments and support clear, workable contracting arrangements.
- Partner with teams throughout the project lifecycle, advising on contractual matters and supporting claims.
- Support the resolution of disputes, working with external advisers.
- Develop templates, guidance, and training for commercial practice and risk management.
- Contribute to wider business matters such as registrations, professional licensure, insurance, and leases.
Requirements
- Qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales, or equivalent legal qualification and authorization to practice.
- Approximately five years of relevant commercial legal experience, gained in-house or in private practice, including negotiating professional-services contracts.
- Experience in architecture, engineering, or construction is preferred.
- Experience with construction disputes would be beneficial.
- Clear, practical judgment and the ability to build trusted relationships.
- Initiative and organization to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and know when to involve others.
- Confidence with everyday digital tools and curiosity about technology, including AI, for legal work.
