About the Role

Zinc is growing its Integrations team. Integrations with ATS and HRIS platforms are a key growth lever, and demand is outpacing current capacity. As an Integrations Engineer, you will add engineering capacity to design, build, and scale connections with third-party platforms, and evolve our Partner API. Your focus will be on building, hardening, and improving integrations, serving as the escalation point for complex issues.

Responsibilities

  • Build integrations end-to-end, including reading partner API documentation, collaborating with Product Managers on specifications, and developing, testing, and releasing new integrations.
  • Harden existing integrations by migrating from deprecated mechanisms, strengthening error handling, retries, and idempotency.
  • Evolve the Partner API by owning endpoint design, versioning, webhooks, documentation, and sandbox environments.
  • Build reusable patterns, such as shared connector and mapping layers, to reduce the cost of new integrations.
  • Develop internal tooling and observability features to empower the Integration Support team.
  • Act as an escalation point for resolving complex issues that the Integration Support team cannot address.
  • Provide technical feasibility input to Product and Partnerships during the discovery phase and team planning process.
  • Review code, establish testing standards, and perform occasional Vue/Nuxt development for integration settings screens.

Requirements

  • Production experience building and maintaining integrations against third-party APIs.
  • Proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js for backend development.
  • Strong understanding of REST APIs and Webhooks, including OAuth2, pagination, rate limits, retries, and idempotency.
  • Comfort with data mapping between JSON, XML, and SOAP formats.
  • Proficiency with Jest and experience with contract and integration testing using mocks.
