About the Role

Engineers are responsible for supporting the detail design and analysis of submarine pressure hull structures including tanks, trunks, and bulkheads as well as structures external to the pressure hull including the bow, sail, super structure, stern, and control surfaces. Responsibilities include structural engineering analysis of equipment foundations, bulkheads, tanks, trunks, hull inserts, and the pressure hull shell and frames, bow and stern main ballast tank structures, external fairings and control surfaces. Analysis for submergence, fatigue, hydrodynamic flow loads and tank pressurization loads and shock loads (static and dynamic) are performed using state-of-the-art computer models as well as conventional hand calculation methods. Engineering review of the design follows the design development from concept formulation through detailed models to design disclosure in a Design Build-Sustain environment as well as construction support during the build phase. Additionally, Engineers will interface with designers and engineers from other disciplines and participate in Navy design reviews.
