About the Role

Shape strategic client relationships and drive growth across the UK energy market. Black & Veatch is seeking an experienced Senior Client Account Manager to lead business development and strategic account growth across the UK Grid and energy sectors. This is a senior, client-facing opportunity for an accomplished sales or account management professional who understands the UK energy landscape and can build trusted relationships with utilities, network operators, developers, investors, contractors, and other key market participants. You will identify and develop new business opportunities, strengthen existing client relationships, and connect clients with Black & Veatch’s engineering, consulting, construction, and project delivery capabilities. Acting as the voice of the client within the organisation, you will help us understand their priorities, address complex challenges, and deliver solutions that support the UK’s evolving energy infrastructure. If you are commercially driven, well connected within the UK Grid or energy market, and motivated by building trusted client partnerships, we would welcome your application.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic account plans for priority clients across the UK Grid and energy markets.
  • Build trusted, long-term relationships with senior client stakeholders and key decision-makers.
  • Identify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities from initial engagement through to contract award.
  • Expand relationships with existing clients while creating opportunities with new customers.
  • Maintain a strong and credible pipeline aligned with sector priorities and business growth objectives.
  • Lead client engagement and capture strategies for complex, high-value opportunities.
  • Work closely with technical, commercial, proposal, project delivery, sales, and marketing teams throughout the pursuit process.
  • Identify client challenges and connect them with the most relevant Black & Veatch capabilities and solutions.
  • Guide proposal and project teams by providing clear insight into client priorities, buying processes, and competitive positioning.
  • Develop effective go-to-market strategies, including client segmentation, account prioritisation, and market positioning.
  • Build a strong understanding of each opportunity, including commercial terms, margins, delivery risks, contractual conditions, and client expectations.
  • Maintain accurate opportunity, pipeline, and client relationship information within Salesforce.
  • Monitor client satisfaction, gather feedback, and ensure that client insight is shared and acted upon internally.
  • Represent Black & Veatch at relevant client meetings, industry events, and market forums.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in B2B sales, business development, strategic account management, or client development.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK Grid and energy market, including the commercial drivers, investment priorities, and challenges facing clients.
  • An established network of relationships across relevant energy, utility, developer, engineering, or infrastructure organisations.
  • Experience developing and executing strategic sales and account plans.
  • A demonstrable record of creating, progressing, and winning complex opportunities.
  • Experience navigating sophisticated buying processes involving multiple stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • The ability to understand technical and commercial solutions and translate them into clear, compelling client value propositions.
  • Strong commercial awareness, including an understanding of pricing, margins, risk, contractual terms, and competitive positioning.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
  • The confidence to engage credibly with senior client stakeholders and collaborate with multidisciplinary internal teams.
  • Experience using Salesforce or a comparable customer relationship management platform.
  • Experience within an engineering, consulting, construction, EPC, or major infrastructure environment would be advantageous.
  • A degree in a technical or business discipline is preferred, although substantial and relevant industry experience will also be considered.
  • You will bring a strong track record of business development, strategic sales, or key account management within the UK Grid, power, utilities, energy infrastructure, or wider energy market.
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
