About the Role
This role is responsible for electrical building services design for the Engineering and Design Consultancy team, supporting various project types and clients. The primary focus is on project delivery, assisting senior team members, and reporting to the assigned team leader.
Responsibilities
- Develops contacts within the industry and with clients.
- Develops good relationships with clients and fellow professionals.
- Works with senior team members to deliver projects.
- Conducts visual surveys when required.
- Ensures projects are delivered to the highest technical standards.
- Contributes towards quality control on projects.
- Prepares calculations, specifications, and drawings, ensuring compliance with client briefs.
- Coordinates design works with other engineers within the team.
- Takes part in multiple projects in parallel.
- Anticipates difficulties and proposes solutions for constant improvement.
- Presents own work to internal and external team members.
- Reviews resources and advises seniors of potential resource issues.
- Coordinates and liaises with CAD/Revit resources, ensuring appropriate drawing standards.
- Effectively manages time and priorities.
- Extends abilities and shows interest in acquiring new skills and techniques.
- Provides technical support to Graduate Engineers and junior team members.
- Carries out other duties as may be reasonably required.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience designing mechanical building services systems.
- Experience working on buildings, campus, and refurbishment projects.
- Understanding of and interest in low energy and sustainable design.
- Good time management, organization, and communication skills.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Creative thinking and demonstration of innovative solutions.
- Confident user of AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, Amtech, DiaLux, MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint software.
- Ideally has experience using or willingness to train and develop to use Adobe Indesign, Adobe Illustrator, NBS, IES, TAS, Revit, and MagiCAD.
