About the Role
As a Security Engineer, you will be involved in security design and process reviews, building and deploying security measures, and penetration testing. Mercari's security engineers have a unique role within the company, engaging in projects that impact the entire organization. This role offers an environment to grow as a future product leader, contributing to both business growth and social issue resolution.
Responsibilities
- Participate in threat modeling, code reviews, and security testing under the guidance of senior engineers to identify and mitigate risks in Mercari's systems.
- Develop and improve automation scripts for common security tasks, including compliance checks, asset inventory reconciliation, and alert operations.
- Conduct security research on specific themes such as AI system security and supply chain risks, summarizing key findings and proposing actionable improvements.
- Support the vulnerability management process, including triaging and verifying security detection results, and coordinating fixes with developers.
- Contribute to the creation and updating of internal documentation, such as secure development guidelines, AI security best practices, security playbooks, and onboarding materials for engineers.
- Support security monitoring activities, including log analysis, tuning detection rules, and tracking misconfigurations or policy violations.
Requirements
- Agreement with Mercari's mission and values.
- Strong interest in cybersecurity and engineering.
- Development experience in at least one programming language such as Go, Python, PHP, or JavaScript.
- Currently enrolled in a university (Bachelor's degree or higher) or vocational school majoring in Computer Science, Information Security, or Engineering.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of Linux, including common commands and scripting.
- Foundational knowledge of SQL and data querying.
