About the Role

Nature Human Behaviour is seeking an editor with expertise in computational science or social sciences to assess research manuscripts, oversee peer review, and engage with the scientific community. This permanent position supports the journal's mission to publish outstanding research across diverse disciplines related to human behaviour.

Responsibilities

Assess research manuscripts for quality, strength of scientific advance and suitability, and oversee the peer review process.
Commission and edit opinion and review content for the journal’s magazine section.
Work closely with authors and reviewers to ensure a rigorous and constructive editorial process.
Engage with the scientific community and attract strong submissions through conference attendance, site visits and other forms of outreach.
Promote published research by producing content for press releases and social media.
Contribute to editorial policies and processes and help maintain high standards of scientific integrity.
Work with the Chief Editor and the rest of the editorial team to develop the journal’s strategy.
Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Nature Portfolio and contribute to the wider editorial community.

Requirements

A PhD (or equivalent) in a field related to computational science or any of the quantitative social sciences.
A thorough understanding of recent trends and developments in the field is essential.
A passion for science and a thirst to learn more.
Demonstrate the breadth of your interest in scientific research, both within and beyond your speciality.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including fluent English (written and spoken).
The ability to read and assess the contribution, context and implications of research submitted to the journal from different disciplines.
Eager to travel and meet scientists worldwide, learn more about them and their research, and help them learn more about us and what we are looking for in the papers we seek to publish.
