About the Role
VAST Data is seeking a Supply Base Manager to manage relationships with Contract Manufacturers and Hardware Suppliers, ensuring alignment with organizational needs and requirements. This role is crucial for managing production readiness for new product launches, evaluating supplier performance, and driving continuous improvement within the supply chain.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Contract Manufacturers/Hardware Suppliers, managing relationships and aligning with organizational needs.
- Establish and maintain robust relationships with CMs, ensuring clear communication and alignment on production goals, quality standards, and contractual obligations.
- Manage all aspects of production readiness for new product launches with CMs, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure meticulous coordination and execution.
- Evaluate CM performance using predefined metrics (quality, delivery, cost) and conduct regular performance reviews.
- Drive performance improvement initiatives with CMs to enhance overall operational effectiveness.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives within the CM supply chain, focusing on cost reduction, process optimization, and supply chain resilience.
- Implement industry best practices, lean methodologies, and process automation.
- Manage contract negotiations, renewals, and amendments to secure favorable terms.
- Evaluate quarterly CM capacity and collaborate with stakeholders for optimal production capacity planning and allocation.
- Analyze demand forecasts, production requirements, and CM capacities to optimize production volume allocation.
- Adjust production schedules and capacities with CMs to meet changing demands.
- Manage CM build plan to meet demand requirements against Engineering, Customer orders, and Finished Goods levels.
- Ensure on-time shipment against customer request dates and within lead times.
- Monitor and track monthly CM fees and manage through Month/Quarter End Close cadences.
- Manage POC Refurbishment.
Requirements
- BS/BA in Business Administration, Operations/Production Management, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- 10-15 years of extensive experience managing Contract Manufacturers.
- Deep understanding of supply chain processes and best practices.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Process-oriented mindset ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Possesses a start-up attitude, thriving in dynamic and unstructured environments.
- Ability to adapt and take on various responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to excel in a fast-paced startup setting with minimal supervision.
- Consistently deliver results under tight deadlines.
- Strong passion for innovation, seeking and implementing fresh ideas.
- Highly self-motivated, proactively taking ownership of tasks and projects.
- Exceptional organizational skills, capable of coordinating multiple project timelines simultaneously.
- Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities, utilizing data-driven insights.
- Outstanding communication skills in a multi-language and multi-cultural environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally (10-20%).
