About the Role
The Operations Control Specialist, Applied AI/ML will partner with various teams to identify and implement AI solutions that streamline processes, strengthen controls, and improve data quality. This role involves leading the design and development of AI workflows and tools, building data pipelines, and delivering production-ready solutions with appropriate oversight.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Operations, Middle Office, Finance, and Risk Operations teams to map workflows, identify AI impact areas, and prioritize use cases.
- Own end-to-end project delivery, from discovery and prototyping through deployment and impact measurement.
- Present proposals, roadmaps, and progress updates to senior stakeholders.
- Lead the design and development of agentic AI workflows and AI-enabled tools, including LLMs, ML models, and multi-step agents.
- Collaborate with the Enterprise AI team on platforms, tooling, standards, and governance.
- Advise business teams on AI application, share best practices, and drive adoption.
- Build data pipelines and transformations using SQL, Python/pandas, databases, and REST APIs.
- Deliver production-ready solutions with appropriate controls, auditability, and human oversight.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or automation with a strong hands-on engineering background.
- Proven track record of delivering AI solutions into live production while working directly with business users.
- Direct experience building with generative AI, such as LLM APIs, retrieval-augmented generation, agent frameworks, and tool orchestration.
- Practical understanding of generative AI limitations and risks in a regulated environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Python (including pandas and NumPy) and SQL.
- Experience in API development and databases.
- Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and a modern front-end framework (e.g., React, Angular).
- Strong knowledge of financial derivatives, financial products, and capital markets.
- Experience at financial services firms, fintechs, or similar environments is preferred.
- Skill in translating ambiguous business needs into well-scoped, prioritized solutions.
- Strong project-management discipline.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to influence decision-makers and explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- An entrepreneurial self-starter who thrives in a fast-moving, high-pressure environment.
- Works with urgency to meet tight deadlines.
