About the Role
As a Design Engineer for PCL Constructors Pacific Rim PTY Ltd. in Sydney, New South Wales, you’ll have the opportunity to build a career you are proud of. Our Solar team, powered by industry leading experts, help bring out clients visions to life.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the preparation of detailed solar PV system designs including layout drawings, single-line diagrams, and equipment specifications.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure design feasibility and alignment with project requirements.
- Review and validate design documents for accuracy, compliance, and constructability.
- Manage design timelines and deliverables to meet project milestones.
- Liaise with external consultants, suppliers, and regulatory bodies to ensure design approvals and certifications.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and best practices (e.g., AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 5033, international standards and National Electrical Rules).
- Support the preparation of technical documentation for tenders and project proposals.
- Assist in the development and implementation of design processes and quality control procedures.
- Provide technical support during construction and commissioning phases.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field.
- 2 to 4 years of experience in solar PV design, preferably within an EPC environment.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, and MS Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of solar PV system components, grid connection requirements, and electrical design principles.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of Australian standards and regulations.
