About the Role

Clay is seeking a GTM Engineer - CX to focus on elevating post-sale workflows by building automations that prevent churn and identify expansion opportunities. This role sits at the intersection of GTM Engineering and the CX organization, partnering with Product Support and Growth Strategy to translate customer data into proactive, measurable actions. The ideal candidate is a builder with a strong understanding of how GTM Operations, Customer Success Managers, and support teams operate and the data they require.

Responsibilities

  • Build and own post-sale workflow automations, including health scoring, churn signal detection, expansion opportunity identification, and proactive customer outreach triggers.
  • Partner closely with Growth Strategy, Forward Deployed Engineering, and Product Support to translate business needs into automation requirements and iterate based on feedback.
  • Build tooling that surfaces the right customer context for GSMs at the right moment, such as before QBRs, during renewals, and ahead of expansion conversations.
  • Push the limits of Clay, extend its platform into new use cases, feed the product team innovative ideas, dogfood new features, and act as a practitioner evangelist of Clay infrastructure and GTM Engineering.
  • Partner deeply with GTM leaders and frontline teams to understand the current revenue motion and its challenges.
  • Own projects end-to-end, from discovery and prototyping through rollout, adoption, and iteration, identifying opportunities to automate, augment, or redesign workflows using AI, data, and systems design.
  • Design systems that improve speed, visibility, data quality, and execution across the funnel, connecting systems through APIs, webhooks, integrations, and automation layers.
  • Measure performance, adoption, and business impact of built solutions, and iterate to improve them.
  • Act as an internal thought partner on the future of AI-native GTM systems.

Requirements

  • At least 6-10 years working in a combination of RevOps, GTM Engineering, or similar applied technical discipline.
  • At least 3 years in RevOps/Sales Ops, GTM Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience building, developing, or connecting core systems like Salesforce and adjacent GTM systems.
  • Hands-on experience with CS tooling such as Gainsight, Vitally, or ChurnZero.
  • Proven ability to build and problem-solve using Python, JavaScript, SQL, or TypeScript.
  • Track record of deploying and building AI-powered internal tools, automations, or agentic workflows.
  • Experience using data warehouses, BI tools, or event-driven systems.
  • Executive presence: communicate concisely and confidently on technical topics with non-technical people, and communicate business requirements to technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in ambiguous and fluid hypergrowth environments, driving change.
  • Experience building in Clay as a primary workflow or enrichment layer is highly preferred.
