About the Role
Dayton T. Brown, Inc. is seeking a business-minded attorney to partner with leadership, offering practical solutions and impacting business decisions. This role allows for growth beyond traditional legal duties within a diverse, technical, and fast-paced environment across three divisions. The position offers a potential path to General Counsel and broader corporate leadership.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with and learn from the General Counsel, with potential to grow into the role.
- Work closely with HR on policy development, handbook updates, employment law compliance, employee relations, performance issues, investigations, and sensitive personnel matters.
- Advise management on business decisions, providing practical guidance on employment law, regulatory compliance, and corporate risk.
- Support proposal teams and division leaders in evaluating terms, resolving legal issues, and pursuing New Business opportunities.
- Collaborate with Compliance, Security, Procurement, Accounting, and Sales to support company initiatives and address risks.
- Handle day-to-day legal drafting, review, and follow-up.
- Review, draft, and negotiate commercial and government-related agreements, including NDAs, teaming agreements, and subcontracts.
Requirements
- Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
- Active New York Bar admission.
- 7+ years of relevant legal experience (corporate, law firm, or government).
- Strong contract drafting and negotiation experience.
- Experience advising on employment-related matters.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
- Experience with or exposure to ITAR, FAR/DFARS, OSHA, New York environmental regulations, commercial insurance, or New York/federal employment law is highly preferred.
