About the Role

Salesforce is seeking a Member of Technical Staff to build and operate automation for patching third-party and open-source dependencies across a large service fleet. This role focuses on feature-level work within pipelines that discover vulnerable packages, manage upgrades, and track fixes through to production. The position is ideal for engineers strong in pipeline and automation who are eager to grow into software supply chain security.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to data pipelines that ingest vulnerability data, dependency manifests, SBOM artifacts, and deployment metadata into a queryable analytics store.
  • Build and maintain batch and streaming jobs with idempotent steps, retries, and clear failure modes.
  • Operate deployed pipelines, including on-call duties, debugging production failures, and reducing toil through automation.
  • Build scripts and services that interact with multiple repositories to open PRs, parse diffs, read CI feedback, and reconcile results.
  • Author and maintain CI/CD pipelines with automated test coverage for confident review and merging of remediation PRs.
  • Resolve attribution issues at the source.
  • Partner with service owners to land dependency upgrades, triage breakage, and improve the quality of generated fix PRs.
  • Translate scanner output into prioritized, actionable work for engineering teams.
  • Write clear design docs, runbooks, and PR descriptions, keeping documentation current.
  • Write Python and Java code adhering to codebase conventions and quality standards.
  • Add regression tests for bug fixes and treat failing tests as signal.
  • Learn and apply supply chain domain knowledge, including vulnerability lifecycle, dependency resolution, and artifact provenance, to pipeline development.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in software engineering with strong proficiency in Python and Java.
  • Reading fluency in at least two of Node.js, Go, and Ruby.
  • Hands-on experience contributing to data pipelines (batch or streaming) with idempotent steps and reasoning about retries.
  • Direct experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with automated test coverage.
  • Comfort writing scripts or small services that interact with many repositories, including opening PRs, parsing diffs, and handling CI feedback.
  • Experience with a workflow orchestrator (e.g., Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, Temporal).
  • Experience with a lakehouse/columnar query engine (e.g., Trino, Presto, Spark, Snowflake, BigQuery, Athena, Databricks, Iceberg).
  • Proficiency in SQL, including non-trivial joins, window functions, and CTEs.
  • Demonstrated end-to-end ownership at the feature level, including design, implementation, deployment, and maintenance.
  • B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
